This place is such a gem. The loving care that goes into every aspect of this place is felt- in addition to being ridiculously talented and skilled teachers, Jeremy & Rachel, the owners, are incredibly dedicated and have created such a beautiful, warm & welcoming community & an environment in which students can truly come into their own. The combination of 1:1 instruction & group classes in which students learn to listen to & play / perform with each other makes for a really well rounded experience. While the value of 1:1 instruction is undeniable, before coming here I hadn’t given much thought to how little sense it makes that most places don’t offer group instruction… music is a collaborative art & there’s so much learning that comes in playing together (& performing together). Doing so is also great inspiration to practice & grow as a player. My son has been here less than a year & I’m blown away by how much he’s learned… & love that his passion for playing has only grown. He looks forward to every 1:1 lesson & each class. Thankful beyond thankful to have found this place.
Our family loves the Hoboken School of Rock. It's been a huge opportunity for our son to grown his musical skills. Jeremy and Rachel who run this location are excellent teachers and are 150% committed to the kids. I can't recommend School of Rock highly enough and the performance program is absolutely wonderful. I honestly wish SOR Hoboken had been open years ago. My son was 11 when he started and the growth I've seen in the last year and a half - his ability to get on a stage and sound like part of a real band - is so impressive.
Updated: As a parent of one of the children who performed at the live show referenced by Amir in his/her review I also want to say that SOR had to find a way to bring the children together safely to share their hard work during the pandemic. I'm sensitive to noise disruptions myself and honestly feel that SOR did the very best they could by the kids and the community and it's unfortunate that one day of children sharing their musical talent led a neighbor to such an unkind review. SOR is exceptionally devoted to the Hoboken community and children and have somehow managed to make remote teaching a success during this very difficult year. I would encourage Amir to reconsider his/her review knowing how many families benefit from SOR Hoboken.
What School of Rock Hoboken provides to my child has been nothing short of exceptional. From the technical lessons to the band opportunities to providing an environment in which my child has been allowed to grow and flourish both technically and personally. They have supported his growth as a musician and his evolution personally responding with grace, care and some taught lessons. We couldn't be more supportive of the school/programs, and more grateful of what they have provided both to our community and to our family. Thank you to Rachel and Jeremy -- ROCK ON!!
Rachel and Jeremy are wonderful people and very generous with their talent. They shine best when you see how proud they get when the kids perform. Its amazing how much work they put into those concerts. It’s a truly wonderful community. My kid goes to little wings class and I’m taking classes myself. It’s amazing how music build self confidence in kids. I’m a big fan of SOR Hoboken.
I can't say enough about the instructors and owners at SoR in Hoboken. It has been a lifechanging experience for my son - who has truly emerged as a drummer the past two years. From the individual lessons (shout out to Steve) to the group sessions, the opportunities to perform, and the personalization that Rachel and Jeremy (the owners) put into each kid's music journey...it has all been awesome. They have also put a tremendous amount of effort into helping the kids continue making music together safely during the pandemic - which has been such a bright light during this time. Whether it's remote zoom lessons, piecing together recorded clips of each of the kids playing the same song, maintaining the highest standards of safety, or working painstakingly to secure locations for the kids to perform - they have done it all. And I'm so sorry the daytime outdoor concert over the summer negatively impacted neighbors of SoR, but for the few hours that weekend that our kids got to rock, to see the fruits of their efforts - sticking with it remotely during the long, hard months of lockdown...it was everything. If you or your kids are music lovers, or you want to foster a love of music in your kids - send them to School of Rock in Hoboken. They will be in excellent hands.
